Casa das Bugalhas

Time presses on, and the forest breathes winds scented with earth and water, wrapped in the bellowing of our deer and the company of the wild boar that sometimes come to peer at us. A place that offers moments not to be missed, where leisure is celebrated, the fire crackles and the walks unwind you. Come and pay us a visit: not only will you not regret it, we are certain that coming back will be as much a pleasure for you as it is for us!

We look forward to welcoming you…

Built entirely of schist and timber. The name Casa das Bugalhas comes from the seven oak trees on the hillside that surround the house. When the oak galls — the bugalhas — break loose from the branches, they roll down the slope and come to rest beside the house.

Testimonials

What our guests say

  • “A lovely little house in a very small and special village. Far from everything and very peaceful. There’s a walking trail nearby, and the food at the village restaurant was very good. Vítor, for his part, was always extremely helpful — checking in on how everything was going and whether we needed anything. Truly wonderful. We really appreciated the care and advice, especially being in another country. If you want a place to get away from it all, this is the house for you.”

  • “My partner and I spent three unforgettable days at Vítor’s house. Although it looks a little dark at first glance, the house quickly won us over, and its terrace/viewpoint is a true luxury. We also loved the kitchen, which is well suited for cooking. Vítor restored it with great taste and care, and the result is a house that stays true to its roots — unique and very welcoming. Beyond the peace and quiet of Candal, we enjoyed visiting Talasnal and having a bite at its restaurant. Throughout our stay, we felt privileged to have found this house and to have met Vítor, always available and radiating a special energy.”

  • “The house is lovely and the location is worth a million dollars! The views are stunning and it’s a wonderful place to relax, unwind and enjoy nature. Vitor was super friendly and helpful, with great suggestions — don’t miss the natural swimming pool in the village!”

  • “It turned out to be a wonderful surprise for a getaway with my children, who were delighted by nature and the way animals like deer, foxes and wild boar live alongside humans and can be spotted nearby. The house is in the best part of the village, with excellent amenities. Even the lack of WiFi, which seems annoying at first, quickly stops mattering. I will definitely be back :)”
